A basketball backboard and a hoop are essential components of a
basketball court. The world has adopted standards regarding these elements;
they were established by the International Basketball Federation.
A basketball backboard is a rectangular or square panel on which a ring
is fixed. The shield is equipped with a mount for installation on a pole or
hanging on a wall: rigid installation is required so that the product does not
wobble or move.
The size of the training shield is 1.2 x 0.9 meters, the distance from
the bottom edge of the shield to the floor or ground is 2.9 meters.
The size of the game board is 1.8 x 1.05 meters, the distance from the
bottom edge of the board to the floor or ground is 2.9 meters.
The NBA has set the following backboard size standards: 72 x 42 inches.
There should be two shields, they are installed at opposite ends of the
field, the material is durable and shock-resistant (for example, tempered
glass, polycarbonate, moisture-resistant plywood, fiberglass). The surface is
marked with lines; it must be smooth. Non-stationary basketball backboard
models with mesh use the same mounting elements as punching bag hanger brackets.
This allows you to withstand the heavy weight of the product and securely
fasten it.
What should a basketball hoop look like?
A basketball hoop or basket is a metal ring with a net into which the
ball is thrown. The element must be installed at a distance of 3.05 meters from
the floor and 0.15 meters from the bottom edge of the shield. The minimum
diameter of the ring can vary from 45 to 45.7 cm. The basket ring must be
durable. The diameter of the metal tube is no less than 16 mm and no more than
20 mm. The basketball hoop is painted in a bright color, most often orange. The
load on the basket should not be transferred to the shield, so special
attention must be paid to the installation of the product
